Bunzl's race around the world

The challenge that made a difference

The company:

Bunzl Retail Supplies (BRS) is a leading distributor to the retail industry in the UK and Ireland, who proudly prioritise their staff and sustainability.

The motivation:

BRS sought a workplace challenge that would promote employee wellbeing while also supporting meaningful causes, and the planet. They had specific charities in mind as they wanted to use their challenge to raise vital funds for the British Heart Foundation and Mind to honour the memories of three colleagues.

The challenge:

Working alongside the BRS team, Race At Your Pace offered the perfect challenge package that allowed BRS to meet all three of their key objectives with ease. The ‘Around the World’ challenge gave a formidable target of 24,901 miles, the equivalent of travelling around the globe!

By including all activities in the challenge, employees were free to complete their miles with the one that they enjoyed the most. This not only ensured inclusivity but also helped maintain high levels of engagement and motivation throughout. Participants used the Race At Your Pace app to track their progress, go head-to-head on a leaderboard, and form teams to compete on a team leaderboard, creating friendly rivalry and motivating participants to stay active!

The results:

Bunzl Retail Supplies’ Around the World Challenge demonstrated how workplace wellbeing initiatives can deliver a range of exceptional results simultaneously. The challenge itself was a phenomenal success, with BRS employees exceeding their target by a huge 3,670 miles! They raised a fantastic £10,000 for their chosen charities and, as they opted to contribute to environmental sustainability, they prevented a huge 222kg of plastic from entering the oceans.
