Radiotherapy UK's fantastic fundraiser | Race At Your Pace

RADIOTHERAPY UK RAISES £14,950 IN JUST 2 MONTHS

160,000 MILES, 2 MONTHS, 1 AMAZING CHARITY!

The charity

Radiotherapy UK is a UK-based charity dedicated to improving radiotherapy treatment throughout the UK. They believe everyone should have access to the best radiotherapy care available – and work hard to make that a reality.

The motivation:

Miles4Radiotherapy is Radiotherapy UK’s annual fundraising campaign to raise vital funds and awareness for this cause. This year, they partnered with Race At Your Pace to deliver a bespoke, inclusive, and engaging virtual challenge – and the results speak for themselves.

Radiotherapy UK needed a platform that could do more than just track activity:

  • Collect donations at the point of entry
  • Allow teams to compete and track each other’s progress
  • Offer full visibility of the fundraising total
  • Include a wide range of activities
  • Support regular communication via email and push notifications

Race At Your Pace’s challenges met every need!

The challenge

Along with the team at Race At Your Pace, Radiotherapy UK designed a fully inclusive challenge that all their supporters could take part in.

They opted to open up all activities to work towards a symbolic goal of 160,000 miles. This number was chosen so each mile covered honoured one of the 160,000 radiotherapy treatments delivered every year by the UK’s dedicated radiotherapy workforce. Every mile represented a powerful journey – a patient’s treatment, resilience, and hope.

The Race At Your Pace app features an exclusive integration with GivenGain, meaning participants to seamlessly join their challenge, donate and view their fundraising totals directly within the app.

The teams vs teams feature was also used, so cancer care centres, radiotherapy units, oncology departments and more from all over the UK could engage in some friendly competition along the way.

A quote from the organiser

“Working with the team at Race At Your Pace has been an utter joy from start to end! They have been so accommodating to all of our requests, and nothing was too much trouble! They were always on hand 7 days a week to support all of our participants throughout their challenge and to support us from the back end of the app!

The app itself is fantastic, a perfect fit for our virtual Miles4Radiotherapy event! It is super user friendly, and very visually pleasing. We have had all positive feedback from our participants who have loved the challenge this year due to the integration of this app.

We would highly recommend Race At Your Pace to use for any events you may have. You will not find a nicer and more accommodating team to work with!

10/10 from us at Radiotherapy UK!”

felt more connected to colleagues
  • It felt like my cycle commute was for more than just transport. The commute was more fun to do and made me look at other longer routes I could take. It also has encouraged me to push myself more to get fitter.

    Kirstie Brown
  • It boosted my energy levels and gave me better mental clarity. Gave motivation to get moving and contribute to the teams overall success but also challenged amongst the team. Also on a personal note it helped for me to give back, raise awareness to a cause close to my heart not only on a professional level but on a personal level having had friends and family need our cancer services

  • Participating in the Miles4Radiotherapy challenge was more than just a personal goal, it gave me the chance to give back, raise awareness, and support a charity making a real difference in the lives of those affected by cancer. Knowing that every step contributed to advancing radiotherapy and helping patients inspired me to push further and feel part of something truly meaningful.

  • Great for bringing colleagues together and getting to know a wide range of staff – all while getting fitter, feeling better in and out of work, and raising money for charity – a superb initiative.

    William Brunt
  • I enjoyed having an exercise focus for the day and doing the challenge as a team brought us together in a way that wasn’t purely regarding work.
