Squarebird’s innovative challenge
Promoting wellbeing while having fun!
The company
Squarebird is a forward-thinking digital, web design, and marketing agency. They specialise in website development, branding, graphic design, SEO, and creative marketing solutions.
The motivation
With an active staff social calendar and a range of wellbeing initiatives already in place, Squarebird turned to Race At Your Pace to bring something fresh for their vibrant team. They wanted an inclusive, physical challenge that would connect their hybrid workforce while delivering a host of benefits.
The challenge
Race At Your Pace was excited to work with Squarebird to design a challenge tailored to their goals. To keep their team connected and engaged, each member selected a meaningful location in the UK or Ireland to shape the challenge route. Their chosen destination was marked on the custom map with their photo, and their explanation on why that particular place was significant to them displayed when the location was reached.
With hometowns, university cities, and childhood holiday spots selected, the team set themselves an impressive target of 1,915.73 miles. All activities were on the table to help employees achieve their goal, with the extra motivation of the promise of a personalised distance medal to be presented at the end of the challenge.

The results

After a month of in-house prizes, movement in many forms and a very active challenge Teams channel, the Squarebird team sailed past their target and to reach a formidable total of 2,548 miles!
Team members received their personalised distance medals, showcasing and celebrating the exact number of miles each individual contributed to the challenge. Squarebird also decided to award in-house prizes to the those at both the top and bottom of the leaderboard, ensuring everyone was celebrated!
The icing on the cake was Squarebird’s environmental impact. The team opted to plant trees in honour of their challenge, so 24 trees were planted in Indonesia – the perfect way to round off the challenge.
